Where did you get the wheels from? Wouldn't the first course of action be to contact the seller and give him an earful for sending you mismatched wheels???

Looks like my 'experiment' of putting together a set is in jeopardy

Someone off eBay who doesnt specialize in these sorts of things and would have had no way of knowing. It's hard to tell. Plus, I only paid $125 per wheel. They are totally straight but looks like I will have to invest a bit in powdercoating.

Doesn't look like such a big difference to me!
I just had the rear driver rim replaced due to some hairline cracks and now I have one brand new shiny silver 172 and three dull ones. It bothered me for a few days but you really have to know and pay close attention to notice.
If you have $300/$400 to spare you may want to get them re-finished but they look pretty clean to me.
My dealer recently was offering 172's mounted with Conti Sport Contact 2 for $2500. Considering the set of 4 tires sells for around $1200, each new rim was about $300. If you paid $150 per wheel and spend an additional $100 in powder coating it'll bring the total price of each rim close to the new dealer price!

The rims already have some rash on them, so you'll have to refinish anyway....powder coat 'em gunmetal!
