Hey folks was thinking about getting 3m headlight covers to protect my gear from road debris, that is so prevalent on the BAHSTON streets and bi ways. That being said anyone have any opnions on the yellow tint or smoked tint from MOD bargins? Its cheap and if it looked gaff I could remove them, not looking for the "auto palace mod look" with the yellow tint but always wanted to go euro yellow lighting on my e34 and never did. OK let em fly, I do value fellow e60 owners opinions so would appreciate it. thanks

ok then...I think it would look horrible. When I bought my 911, it had some thick clear rubber/plastic adhesive covers on the headlights. I removed them within minutes of buying the car. Anything that is going to 'upset' the sleekness of the E60 headlight design is a bad move. Having said that....it's yours, and if you like it, you should do it.

I had it done. Just clear. It's really thick, but you don't even notice it.

My e39s headlights were sandblasted after the years of abuse. Light output was diminished and only option was to replace or wet sand. No thanks. I have better uses for my time.

It was ~$125 for the headlights. Have a professional tint place do it. It took them over an hour with all the heating and stretching over the compound curves of the lights.

+1. I got a pair from Bavauto.com in 2004. No issues except that I should have applied the Euro stickers before the
clear shield.

Like someone else, my headlights were so scratched and oxidized that I was to the point of replacing them, but it was going to cost about $1300 per light! So I spent the time to sand and polish them, and then I had the film applied. It's a light blue, so is not really noticable, and I hope it preserves the headlight surface for a long time...

Cheers, Jon.

I bought the "Bavarian Autosport Clear Urethane Headlight Shields" from bavauto.com, installed them myself and most people can't even tell they're there unless I point them out. So far they still look clear. It takes a little patience putting them on, but it can be done by just about anybody. If/when they start getting yellow, I'll just replace them for another $50. Sure beats $1300 replacement for each headlight.
