#1 works well with your rims.

#2 would look great with Shadowtrim and different shoes...

Thanks for the replies. I realize the photos aren't the best for a comparison, but it's all I have to work with. It looks like my mattes will soon be going into the classifieds if anyone is interested. DRANGED, stay tuned for my cooking thread

The matte grilles were one of my intended mods but I have not pulled the trigger yet. I am just not sure of the look on the carbon black. Please try to take some more pictures of the matte grilles at a better angle. TIA.

I like the OEM quality better than the plastic ones....and in those pics, the OEM's look better. If you want them to be black and look awesome, get them painted to match the Carbon Black of the car.
If you are going to go for the "black grills", then I agree with the Doc, have them painted to match.
I have seen plenty of Carbon Black E60s here in Germany with matt-black grills and IMHO they just looked out of place. However on jet or saphire black cars I find they're a good fit.

I recently swapped the stock grills out for matte black (thanks to Joe and Nerwyll @ Trinity) but I'm not convinced that I like the look on Carbon Black. Thus, I've chosen to take it to the experts. What do you all think...leave them matte black or go back to OEM? Sorry about the second pic but I don't own a digital camera so I hurriedly snapped some shots with a relative's camera this weekend.

#1 for you,

IMHO Matte Black grilles only look good on Jet Black or Sapphire black cars.

Considering carbon black, almost looks Dark Navy Blue, the contrast isnt good with the Matte Grilles.

i like the black.. IMO, but i agree with john.. the pics from such dif angles dont give us a good pic to judge from.. did you take the second pic in a bad angle on purpose?
