i'd like to get some real opinions on brake mods. my experience is that most of the big brake kits didn't do much as far as brake feel, stopping distance, or fade. i installed a baer brake system on my escalade ext. it has big heavy 20x10 wheels. it's a big heavy truck. there seemed to be no actual difference between the stock brakes with ebc green stuff and my big brake kit. even on my c2 i couldn't tell the difference between my car with stock brakes and c2 and c4 i've driven with big brake kits.

obviously i'm not talking about hour long hard driving track run and actual measured stopping distances. but just from feel and overall street performance i'd have to say that having some quality pads like ebc green and some really good tires make the most difference for the money. they may not look as cool, but they definately do the job and do it well.

no let me know if i'm out of my mind or not. and what brakes you have or have tried on your 5er.

To be able to handle a bigger gun, a man must be strong enough to handle it. Is your E60 hydraulic brake system designed and ready for bigger brake? If not, you'll don't see much increase in braking performance.
That's why you see M5 hydraulic brake system is different from all other E60s because it's designed for bigger brake rotor, caliper cylinder and pads.

For a new set of brake rotor, caliper, and pads, a hydraulic brake system must be enough power to handle all new stuffs or you might not see much performance at all.

All statements above are just my opinion.

For street use, BBKs or big brake kits, will offer no real advantage over the regular brakes. On the street, BBKs provide nothing more than looks and possibly better pedal feel.

If you don't track the car or intend to track the car, then the a BBK would just be for bling.

A set of stainless steel brake lines should improve pedal feel.

I agree. If you want your brakes to be more responsive, get steel lines.

I personally like to do a slow comfortable soft braking when there are people in the car. To the point where their heads down move forward. I think steel brakes might make that more difficult, but it depends on your driving personality.

Sounds like I need have everyone in the car agree with whatever I say in the car by making them knotting their heads adding braided brake line
