I've just ordered some for my 520d. It also has the intake moved. I'll be making a guide as soon as I can install them. - FYI I've order the 2nd scoop from the M5 Kit.

I'd go for it just for the look, the red scoop look really nice behind the grill.

Hey Guys,

on every pic I see that you removed the air flaps, so that you can look through the kidney grills directly on your radiator.
Is this stock in USA? I have these ugly flaps on my 525D.
Can I use the scoop whith these flaps? You know, I would like to resell my car when time has come for an EMMY and I don't think that the dealer will appreciate the loss of these flaps --> loss of value.

BTW, Do you tested the scoop with Diesel cars?

Tschuess,
Ivano

Has anyone done this to an '08 528i? How many horses will it add to the straight 6?
On the 528i you should get around 4-5 hp

Thanks for the info. But it would be cool if you also added in, it adds XXHP and XXtorque.. Or maybe direct me and others to the website with more details.

Anyway, if it only helps at 60+ mph I don't see how this is useful or a must have mod.. could someone enlightened me?
You would usually gain about 3-7HP depending on the model of your E60.

I have a quick question about the RPI Scoops. Is there a concern if driving at highway speeds in a heavy rain downpour? Is there a chance that water could get sucked into the intake? I only ask becasue we have had a lot of rain recently. And can I use a K&N with the RPI or do I need the BMC for the power gains quoted? I am probably one of the original AFE Guys and am ashamed to say I still have it installed. I have heard the horror stories about the AFE Intakes, but I will be honest, my car pulls hard with it.

I was very worried about water intrusion. Almost to the point of not ordering a scoop. Rest assured it's fine for highway speeds. I drove my car through DENSE Florida summer rain and check the airbox later to see it was bone dry there also is a little drain in the bottom of the airbox.

Also, my sisters C230 has a scoop from the factory. Merc wouldn't put a scoop into a car if it was prone to water intrusion.
