I know there are lots of folks running H&R sport with great results...and I know coil overs are the ultimate way to get an agressive drop. I want a more agressive drop than the H&R Sports but I do not want to spend the money on coilovers.
My understanding is that H&R Race springs lower NON-Sport cars 2". Since Sport E60's are about .7" lower than Non-Sport that means H&R Race should only lower Sport E60 about 1.3". Which just happens to be about the amount that H&R Sport lowers Non-Sport E60...and I know many are running stock Non-Sport shocks with H&R Sport without trouble. Which leads me to believe that Sport E60 stock shocks should handle the H&R Race (obviously not ideally but they might get the job done).
So.... I'd love for the guys running H&R Race to chime in on how the car rides and whether or not they are using factory shocks. Also, how much did H&R Race actually lower the car. I'd love to see pics of cars with H&R Race installed as well.
Thanks in advance!!!

The drops are usually measured base on the sport package equipped vehicles. In the end both models (sport & non-sport) should end up with the same ride height. The springs will be okay on stock shocks for a while but they will wear out very quickly. Depending on your preference, some people might say it's a little bouncy riding on stock shocks.

I was under the impression that the drop was based on Non-Sport E60?
If it's based on the Sport E60 that would mean that the H&R Sport springs lower Non-Sport E60 2 inches?? which would mean the Race springs on a Sport E60 would be almost 3" lower than a non-sport E60? Are you sure it is based on the Sport version???
Thanks for the reply.

you are correct with the H&R race springs dropping the non-sport 2" all around and the sport about 1.3" all around. with race springs though, it is recommended to have aftermarket shocks to complement the springs because of the dramatic drop. members on this forum who have/have had H&R race springs on their e60s are iceman316 on his 550 and vegastrashed on his 545. you could try shooting them a PM. hope this helps

So the drop is based on the Non-Sport. That is what I had figured. I know going springs only is definitely not ideal but I have done it in the past with H&R Sport type drop (1.25-1.5" drops) with no problems and I have been fine with the ride quality. Since the Race "only" lowers the Sport E60 by about 1.3" I feel that should be fine for me.
Thanks for the leads Nerweezy I will contact ice and vegas...maybe they will chime in here too..

ICEMAN316 doesn't frequent e60.net anymore, but I do.
The H&R Race on stock shocks will be a bumpy ride, that's why I went with Koni Sport shocks.

Damn guys...you make my wallet hurt!!!
I will only have the car for 24 months and I really only drive about 500 miles per month. (just in time for F10 hopefully)Like I said I've done the springs on stock shocks in the past and I really did not find the ride to be too bad. I kind of wanted to keep this simple and get the look that I want for my new wheels.
Though I could probably sell the coil overs pretty easily at the end of the lease...hmmm.
Vegas...did you run the Race springs on the stock shocks and then go to the Koni's? (if stock shocks were they sport?) or did you go straight to Race + Konis? I got your pm by the way, thanks! Which of the photos in your album are with the H&R Race?
