Oil performance enhancers.

I saw this guy walking in the wal-mart automotive section and picked up a bunch of bottles of this stuff that claims to restore/enhance ur performance if u regularly dump a bottle in after u refil gas.
Do these things work?
If so, what brand do you use?

Everything I've ever read about Gas and Oil additives shows they do little if anything. You can use them if you want, but our gasoline has detergent in it already and our oil is changed frequently enough that there should really be No issues with a high quality oil in the first place! Besides which, these additive are rather expensive for what they are! Those are my 2 cents, spend them as you see fit!

I'll run a bottle of fuel injector/valve cleaner (usually Chevron or one the other quality brands) maybe twice a year through my cars. Though most gas has detergents I'm not sure how concentrated it is or how much it helps in the end. Either way I guess for $5 or so twice a year it makes me feel like I'm doing something good for the engine. It can't hurt that is for sure.

Saying that products such as Techron hurts the vehicle is like saying you shouldn't fill up at Chevron or Shell. If you regularly fill up at Shell/Chevron/Exxon I think you can be sure it has enough detergents to keep your fuel injectors and fuel lines clean, but if you go to the cheap-gas-of-the-moment-stand then I'd put a bottle of Techron say after every oil change.
That said, I don't see the need to add 'oil additives' can improve the performance of oils like Mobile 1 5w-40 syn or Castrol full synthetic 0w-30.

The oil crap I doubt is going to do anything for your car if your already using the recommended oil.
Gas stuff I'll throw a bottle in once a year or so. Usually use Valvoline's syn. fuel system cleaner. It can't hurt that is for sure. How much does it work?? Hard to say but even the best gas will build up some deposites over time.
