I get my oil filter from Napa locally(only local place besides the dealer that has one in stock always). Runs about $18 or so for my 545. Never really priced them much as I only get two a year so I guess I'm not going search the world to save $8 between the two.

Your oil changes should be every 15,000 miles if you use BMW approved synthetic oil. I have seen where some are doing there changes around 10,000 or 12,000 but 15,000 is the recommmended interval by BMW.

I am going to change the oil on my 07 550i next week
I get the parts from Bimmerzone which is where I work, the HENGST (made in germany) is like $12 or $13 dollars.

Buy the genuine filters four at a time from Garry Romani at Newport BMW. Buying them 4-6 at a time usually covers the freight charges.

Garry Romani- 25% discount

You can get a Hengst oil-filter kit for $8.50 at Autohausaz.com. Again, if you buy two of them the total delivered price probably puts you money ahead.

Another option is to go to your local dealer's website and look for a parts discount coupon. My dealers regularly publish 15% discounts.

Also, if you're a member of the BMW CCA the dealerships will sometimes give a 10-20% discount off of parts.

I'd stick with the German brand filters (Mann, Hengst) or use the BMW part and stay away from NAPA, FRAM and other brands like that. $3-4 is not much money to pay for a really high quality oil filter, especially if it is being left in the car for 15,000 miles.

This link will give you more information about oil filters then you would ever want to know: Oil Filter Study
