Select which wheels came with your car. Under the "Supplement" section of each wheel, you will see width and offset (Offset is marked by "ET").

If you'd like to see how your current OEM specs match up against another set of wheels with different widths and offsets, use this tool:

"Current Wheel Specs" are pulled from the first link I sent you.

"New Wheels Specs" are for the new wheels you might be looking at (You'll need both width and offset).

OEM specs with offset 15 and 22/25????? never heard of any wheels with that offset...

regardless, we need to know the width: 8j, 8,5j, 9,5j etc..

ET20 is the standard offset on a 7.5" and 8" OEM wheel for the E60 (non-XI). (XI is ET43. And ET55, if you run the 124 staggered set-up with a 9" rear).

If you happen to be running the OEM 124's back then on this car, with a staggered set-up in the rear, you'd have a 9" width and an offset of ET32.

So, with that, here you have it:

7.5" - ET20
8" - ET20
9" - ET32

If you are running 8,5", you haveoffset 12 with the m5/m6 wheels, if you have 9,5 in the rear you have offset 17. does it mean that offset 17is the limit for hte rear??? no, because i can run 8,5" with offset 12 in the rear with no rubbing issue..

so what i am trying to say - offset 15 sounds very good for the front, but if he is running 9" wheels at the front with offset 15, the it is a NO-GO!!! If he is running 8,5" wheels, the offset 15 is good and there wont be rubbing.. If he is running 7" (not to offend you that you might be running such skinny wheels) wheels with offset 15, then he will have rubbing inside...

With an 8.5" width, there is an offset of ET18, instead of ET20. However, with this wheel in the rear and a 9.5" width, the offset still remains ET32.

Bottom line though, a high offset such as ET40 on an 8.5" wheel for a standard, RWD E60 will cause a serious recess of the wheel inside the well, thus causing rubbing. In fact, to be exact, the inner clearance will be 26mm less and the outer position will retract by 14mm. That's quite a change from spec. (I was using an OEM spec of 8" and ET20 to compare. If you use a 7.5" width with ET20, the inner clearance goes to 33mm, which is ever worse).
