Ok I know I was not going to post anymore but I felt obligated to anyone who showed interested in some real 0-60 times for the 530i since they are hard to come by. BMW posted 6.6 for an automatic and the only other C and D mag also just quoted bmw without self testing.

My mods are evotech software, afe intake (re-modded with pic below-introduced 4cm diameter pvc tube/hole in fender wall to suck air out of brake duct area and noticed a HUGE difference. ALso a remus muffler.

Stock hp 258 N52 engine Auto/steptronic
Weight approx 3400

Using Escort G-timer took 5 different sessions and below are the average for each session throwing out worst and best to get an average

BMW posted 0-60=6.6seconds

Run1- 6.21
run2-5.89
run3-6.11
run4 5.81
run5- 5.97

So all in all pretty happy and met my goal of breaking six seconds. Definetly bmw listed times were off but I am sure the mods had something to do with it. Would be curiosu to see a manual's times. But definetly driver variation. I had some times in the 7 second range on bad launches so really anything within 1 second is pretty darn close-ie a 5.2s v. 5.8 s car in the 0-60 is darn darn close.

I am adding a supersprint exhaust and then I am done with mods. Anyway that is the final chapter on my mod story and data collection for anyone intrested toying with a 530 i.

My personal bests

0-60-5.81
Top speed-167

later on

Wow, That's impressive for a 3 ltr car - Nice one.

Do you have any idea as to what the estimated BHP is with that setup?

WOW guys-instead of starting a new post let me tell you adding this huge 4 inch diameter intake pipe through the fender is getting RIDICULOUS performance.

I forgot to update that this was in 90 degree weather in phoenix which is roughtly 1000 feet altitude I believe.

Well after replacing the previosu 3 inch hole with a bigger 4 inch hole and aiming the pvc intake pipe right into the cone filter-the results were huge. Let the car learn and was obviously the air coming in was just massive since my fuel consumption went down signifigantly meaning more fuel definetly was burning for all the new O2

So after that I was in shock when I conisistenly pulled 3 runs in the 5.5s-CRAZY! that is like a second off bmw listed time and a bit more.

This is just a totally different machine guys-I so encourage you to do this. The pull is just insane. I will post a pic but 5.5 is NO joke and is perfectly accurate from a g2 meter caliberated perfectly. This is also in 90 degree weather-imagine 70 degrees and even better launches.

Guys this is a huge find for a mod. The brake duct area is perfectly cold even after hard running and it is that air being sucked right into the cone. Pics below

p.s I have dynoed three times now but never had a baseline which would have eliminated all this guess work

Dynodynamic-203whp
Dynojet-222

So my estimate as was the guys at dynocomp who did the dynamic was in the 285ish bhp But with this new mod and how fast it feels I would not be surprised if it was 290ish-Either way To produce 5.5 seconds 0-60 in a 3500 pound car you need some decent power.

Anyway I am thrilled (obviously)":")

wow those are impressive times. Congrats!

Remove your rear seats and you may be doing 4.9s!

Wow great numbers!

So you drilled a big hole on thru the metal fender for the additional air from the brake ducting or it's thru the plastic? Have any pic on the lower section of that? I'm curious to see what is that PVC look like...

Hey thanks guys-car is "chipped" -evotech software.

And no-the fender wall is a hard plastic material that forms the basic shape but the inner portion is just a soft carpet-like soft plastic that I simply cut a hole with a kiitchen steak knife-about 3-4 inches in diameter. Then used a double open end pvc pipe with one side that has slats/rivets to screw it into something-(not needed just happened to get that one) and put that end into the hole towards the ground/fender well and the other end is directly under the cone filter.

The overall lenght of the pvc pipe is maybe 6-8 inches. I can take some more pics today-It is a really good mod-I am super pleased with the throttle response regardless of whatever hp was. I am more concnered with butt dyno and objective 0-60 times.

I am waxing the puppy today so will take some pics for anyone interested. I also got a little slip cover for the end of the pvc pipe-in a downpoor or something I may slip the cover on so it doesnt suck in a bunch of water but under normal rainy days it will be no problem.

And yes the hole is right in the middle of the fender wall andbasically takes air from behind the tire, right in the brake duct area/inside of the brake. The good thing about this is the intake pvc is so close to the cone-there is no time for it to collect any heat from the engine air at all since its getting suckied from the cold fender well into the cone.

Definetly noticed gas mileage went down with hard driving-which tells me O2 is definetly being sucked up.

Will go take some pics

Here are some pics-there is one funny looking one which is the view through the fender hole looking at the brake duct area where the air is coming from
