OEM style 149 20" rims for my E60 ??

What to do?!

IMHO I would go with the 149's..

but it's easy to explain:
With lip or without lip?

I'm a big fan of "non-lip", therefore I would go with the first.
I know going OEM is not cheap at all,but it's worth 1000 times more than cheap fake rims..
keep it OEM


now all you need is a bunch of luck to find these rims

I found second hand 20" M101s and 20" Radial 32s on Ebay Germany but always with 7er E65 tyres, so always ended up having to factor in replacing the tyres. I was getting quotes around 2700-3000 EUR, which was just too much for these rims IMHO.

So for that kind of money, I decided to simply go for the rim I always wanted and just bought myself...

There is one point which seems to be overlooked when considering fitting E65 7 series alloys to the 5 series.Although the 5x120 PCD and the centre bore are the same,the fixing bolts are not,the E65 7 series uses M14x1.5 instead of M12x1.5 thread.This means that when you use your M12x1.5 bolt in a E65 rim,the actual contact area on the conical seat is smaller!That means more stress in that area of the alloy wheel when torqued correctly at 120Nm.Maybe someone makes special M12x1.5 bolts with a larger conical section to match the E65 rim fixing holes?

I do not understand what the "M14" part refers to. Can you simply use the E65 bolts on the E60 to solve this issue?

I assume the 20" Alpina Classics I bought have the same issue, as they were made for the B7 (7er).

M14 is a 14mm diameter bolt,M12 is a 12mm diameter bolt.Earlier 7 series (E23,E32,E38) all used the M12x1.5 as used on most BMW's.The E65 is the odd one out.

Thankfully the Alpina Classics I just bought were made for the E38, so according to your posts, that means they will be the same size as my E60 bolts
