$626 does sound like a lot. it shouldn't be to hard to install. looks like u just mount it to your license plate area. the tricky part would be the wiring. im sure someone here could get or more a digram and you could wire it up yourself or have an audio shop wire it up.

i'm gonna go ahead and bite the bullet.....i made an appt for next week. fortunately, my parts guy was able to give me the part 25% off. i really don't want to mess with the electrical of the car, plus i'm not that handy!
luckily i wont some $ while in vegas last wk!

My Ride: On order 530D Platinum Bronze/Natural Brown Comfort seats,sunroof,PDC, Nav pro,Aux In,Xenons, Alarm, tinted glass.

I had the PDC number plate system installed on my 2004 E60. Initially it was total rubbish. I'm not sure if this was because of poor installation by the dealers or merely that it was not a very good bit of kit. First of all it would not turn off, so when driving, close vehicles created an alert. Rain was a nightmare and it would even react to hedges and motorbikes! Also the rear sensor sounded the same as the front and was not very loud. Eventually they put in a small extra speaker for the rear unti and installed a switch for the system. It wasn't too hard to become accustomed to automatically turning it off. I believe mine cost ?1600 and really was not worth it. It's also rather ugly, and there is no internal proximity display. The first option on my 2007 LCI was PDC !

from what i understand, the fitment for the '08 is much better. i wish someone who actually has it installed on an '08 535i can post an actual pic!
