...just some hand tools, and driveway works, couple screws on the side, behind the wheels, and you need to take out both side pieces inside the trunk in order to reach the bolts, also take off the plastic piece underneath on passenger side rear, then pull out the bumper. To install OEM M5 rear, you need another center support piece to hold the bumper, and it fits perfectly, I think it took Eugene less than an hour.
Thanks for the install info - looks like I would want to order (or make sure I get) the extra M5-specific center support piece. Did Eugene also have to pull out the taillights to access that portion of the bumper cover? I can probably do this on a warm day in my driveway - not in advance of a major snow storm like you guys on the East coast just got! Thanks!

No, you dont need to pull out the taillights, but you do need to take out both sides inside the trunk, there is one bolt below taillight you need to reach, toward center
i think maybe eugene can provide more details if you need help

Ray,

Go Remus. I know you want no drone / sound. That is probably your best bet.

thanks mike, that's what i am thinking, i think i will like remus, not too loud
but they dont make quad for 535XI, i will need to mod

and once i remove the OEM center resenator, what should i replace with? 2 resenators with x pipe? or dual in dual out?

i saw MacFly's pictures for his setup, seems like he got two resenators before X-pipe, then remus mufflers

Actually, you do.

In order to take apart the bumper, there are 4 big bolts behind the tail lights. You need to take it off first. and then a few bolts under the bumper and behind the wheel well.

I did this when i swapped my M5 rear for OEM.

Eugene didnt take off my taillight, maybe LCI and pre-LCI are different?
