You can always spray paint the matte one to glossy black.

I tried spraying chrome grills with gloss black paint and it didnt come out gloss black, the proper gloss black grills look so much better.

has anyone ever bought anything from thebmwpartstore.com... i used them alot when i was on the bimmerforums. all oem stuff and its a a few dollars cheaper..just saying


Oh and does anyone have pics of these on alpine white.. id like to see.. thanks!

getbmwparts.com tends to be pretty good/better with most pricing...

as far as gloss black, melimel had the oem gloss black grill on her previous e60:

Got my glossy black grill there and other things when I repaired my water pump...cheapest place I found; free shipping and no sales tax for Cal residents.

If you sand it enough and do at least 3 coats of paint, thin coat so no drip, it will come out glossy. The main thing here is prepping though. The problem with spray paint the chrome grille is those rock chips will eventually make the chrome re-appears. After the 2nd time, I was like, heck with that, I'm spending $ 105 for the set to save me some time and my lung from inhaling those spray paint smell.
