My Ride: Alpine White 2006 530Xi (SLD)

... what an improvement! I got my new (OEM M5) shift knob today and affixed the bastard to the car as soon as I got a chance to.
1. Original shift knob is total shit. Just shit! You may disagree - whatever! Until you try shifting with a nice leather weighted shift knob, don't even talk to me about this - the improvement is so huge, its well worth the few bucks you spend on the weighted knob. (I got mine on this forum for $45 shipped - awesome price!)
2. Taking off a shift knob is a piece of cake. I'm not beating my chest, or anything, but all of you boys that nearly took your eyes and balls out taking off the original shift knob are a bunch of crybabies. My technique was as follows, btw: a. open sunroof b. stand with each leg on either side of the car (i.e. left leg by the driver's seat, right leg - passenger's) c. pull on the shift knob with both hands in a deadlift-like motion (be careful not to hit your balls - meaning, don't pull TOO hard) d. install the new knob and enjoy better standard of living immediately![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)
3. WARNING: these pics are crap, but I just wanted to post whore a lil after all that "hard" work I've done![Laughing](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/laughing.gif)

4. I'm thinking about messing with the original shift knob a little - maybe paint the faux-metal some other color or smth, so pour in some ideas/links if you got anyth on the subject (or of the subject, for that matter
)
Best of all to y'all

I'll provide instructions on how to protect valuables at the June 6th meet, if anyone's interested hahahaaa ![Laughing](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/laughing.gif)
Craig, this one does not light up, but I don't like the ones that light up anyway.
