Yes it is. If he used the "proper" size it would rub against the fender.

i can use the proper sizes now with fenders rolled but before there was no way

Here is my opinion on this. I say just get the M-Tech already. I think as far as cosmetics, thats the only thing your missing. M-Tech, or some other kit, and outside's done. Then there is nothing else to do besides for performance and other crazier stuff.

Jesus, that's almost exactly the look I'm going for (or at least envisioning). HOT!!

So, fenders are rolled? How did that go?

Also, what's your setup? Are you on JIC coilovers? What about wheel/tire sizes? Spacers? Etc, I'm very curious.
