All, I'm looking to upgrade the old lady this Spring (MY07 550i Manual). She's only got 17K miles and will turn 3 years this May. Besides the exhaust, which is a no-brainer, I'm wondering what else to do - or if should just do the entire package - S or S1. Any specifics related to shops in No. VA and specifics parts is appreciated.

Whatever the pocket book can afford...

I have had Dinan stuff on two cars and never been dissapointed. And I am picky

Exhaust is a no brainer, its great. I recomend CAI and throttle body along with the software and exhaust. The only reason I didn't go with the S pkg was I don't need pedals or a carbon fiber strut brace. I'm really only interested in the stuff that increases performance.

I had the suspension parts on my M3 and I thought those parts worked very well too so suspension suff would be next, then brakes.

Nice guys, did a good job and had a loaner car available which made getting the work done convenient.

You don't drive much, do you? Mine already has 40K miles

I think the suspension is the best mod for your money. It's not that the stock suspension is bad but Dinan suspension gives you that "riding on rail" feeling. Got mine done by Sterling BMW.

Regarding power, I wanted to do S1 package but decided to do ECU remap (from Speed Innovation) instead.

No I don't, she's just a baby!

I heard good things about Sterling BMW - you recommend them again?
Tell me more about ECU?

Thx.

Hey man,

I live in Tysons Corner and so my dealership is BMW of Fairfax. There is a Dinan specialist right across the street from the dealership that can help you with anything you need/want to do. The number is 703-560-1700... give them a call. I'm doing the High Flow Air Filter, High Flow Throttle Body, and Stage 3 Software upgrade this March, (doing Quad exhaust first) so I'll let you know how it goes if you haven't done anything yet. Also, go to www.dinancars.com and look at what can be done for our cars. I hope this helps.

Yes, I would recommend Sterling BMW. Ask for Randy Tom from Parts, he is a good guy.

I did not want to do Dinan reflash because if your car software needs upgrade then it will wipe everything out. You'll have to bring it back to the dealer to have reflash done again , free of charge.

I can tell the difference with Speed Innovation ECU remap (additional 21HP/ 18 lbs ft. of torque). However, I do not want to make any recommendation without some proof (dyno) since someone can say it's a "placebo effect". May be I'll do some dyno in the Spring. They (Speed Innovation) have dyno for reference but not for the 550i.
