Depending on how they have wired those LED rods, I should be able to build cables that brighten those LED rods and turn those break light bulbs off unless you break. Everything should be plug and play as well. This solution should still work out cheaper over-all in case people want a cheaper option.
Please do I bought these and if those pesky lights can be shut off that would be great...thanks redeye for the review I know everyone really appreciates it

I definitely feel that you can redo the wiring to have the Rods just light up.

I was planning on buying this and taking it apart, changing the turn signal LEDS to white and then see if I can change the LEDS on the Rods brighter and do more cuts like Igor said. (Very good idea btw).

Is there still a group buy price? or should I just get it now?

Thanks for the input guys, hopefully a DIY can be done to make these a little bit nicer.

Well someone is going to have to send me pictures and details of these lights so that I can make up a cable for this. The first one to help gets the prototype for very cheap.

Bruce - I'm curious...How would you propose making the LED bars brighter strictly from a cable change?

There'd be only two ways that I can think - either find that the LED's aren't getting the full 12v (doubtful) or by reducing the resistance (if any - there may be enought LED's to not require one) which would 'overdrive' the voltage. What are your thoughts?

I believe the only way to make the Rods brighter is to do what Igor mentioned and is to add more cuts onto the rods. Its tedious but it does make sense.

It will make the light refract through the rods.

Agreed - I've seen the DIY posts from long ago using clear miniblind rods formed and slits cut to better refract the light.

I was curious about Bruce's specific comment earlier that he could brighten the rods strictly from a custom cable.

The cable is probably just pulling out more power from the LEDS, which I would be a little scared due to the LEDS might blow out. Since these are made in Taiwan, the parts they use might not be as good as Hella/BMW.

As far as making the back bulbs stay off and just have the rods light up, i'm sure its very simple. We just have to play / test around it.

Redeyejedi, any info on the group buy price? or should I just order it now? LOL
