LOL Vlad....

The thread would start like that, but I have to hold off. Xmas gifts kind of stopped me from buying it and buying the Orion V2 Angel eyes... Ugh!

So I have to wait till next year. =(
Its always like this - family interferes with business LOL if not for this whole Xmas crap, we'd prolly already have a solution from you...

I'm just teasin, you know (I hope by now you know LOL).

Happy Holidays to you and yours, brother! My best wishes!

Paying shipping would be worth it for a set of "Nixgdoof original" modded tail lights
Happy holidays Mike

Correct number is 626-956-9140

Just ordered mine. I too will probably wait to see what Bruce comes up with before installing.

Curious: How does the LCM manage the intensity of the 7506 bulbs? Does it merely adjust the voltage to the bulb? As in, does the LCM only deliver 12V when braking, and deliver less voltage as a running light?

...anyways, if the intensity of the 7506's is managed by the LCM using a duty cycle (versus voltage), a filter could be built to prevent the running lights from interfering with the CCFL's if the duty cycle is within a certain range... If nobody has an answer, I'll confirm this by scoping the LCM.

Thanks L, between Bruce and Mike we should have some really nice lights - they will come up with something.

For those like myself who already have their ebay lights and are interested in DIY-type approaches, a probe hooked up to the LCM during lunch verifies that it manages the intensity of the 7506's with a PWM. My co-workers and I didn't have a scope handy, so I bread-boarded a small circuit to test whether the voltage from the LCM was repeatedly jumping from 0-12VDC- and it was, in both "running light" and "brake light" operation with varied duty cycles. "Brake light" operation is not a constant 12VDC on my 2007 550i (unsure on other platforms). Instead, it just had a longer on-time than the "running light" signal. I guess the easy/cheapest route to getting this to work is to get a clock running at the same duty cycle as the LCM along with a comparator comparing the clock to the actual signal sent to the lights by the LCM when in "running light" mode, to effectively remove the "running light", but I don't have my own scope to calibrate this sort of thing. I'm going to go a bit overkill and use an Atmel uC (roughly $7 with external oscillator/regulator parts) to sample the LCM signal (by measuring the on-time for the "running light" and "brake light" signals), then have the Atmel uC switch power to the 7506's as brake lights if the on-time exceeds that of the "running light" time.
