Since the grease needs to be applied on the backing plate of the pads you would basically have to do the whole job over. Remove the wheel, remove the caliper, remove the pads, apply the grease, then reinstall everything. Time consuming for sure, but well worth it. Which is why it's always better to get the job done right the first time.
That's the last time I go to those jerks. Thanks for the advice man!

No problem, most shops would use the grease, but when they are in a hurry or are lazy it's an extra step and they won't bother unless you provided the grease when you gave them the parts. A lot of shops don't like it when customers provide their own parts (because they haven't sold you anything) and they get lazy about it.

Its not true you need grease-have had pads/rotors chaned twice by bmw and they did not use grease as I asked-as the problem I got them fixed for initially was squeaking-both times were fine

While you may sometimes get away without it, it is always better safe than sorry IMHO. I have seen even the best pads squeak without grease so I prefer to use it - when an ounce of prevention costs less than $1, why wouldn't you use it?

My squeaking came from the sensors. They replaced my sensors in the front and the back and now the squealing stopped. Both on stock pads. Just got my car back from service yesterday cause of this issue.

How much did that cost? Brake sensors aren't covered under warranty are they?

I bought Cool Carbon brake pads from Bavarian auto and now my car squeals like a bus. Stopping power is good but I hate the noise. Can anyone recommend good brake pads that do not squeal?
I had a set of the cool carbon brakes as well AND MAN it squeaked like a mo fo! Took it off and put some Posi quiet semi metallics on

Yea man, every time I press the brake I feel like I'm committing rape ! Good thing my car is a stick so I just downshift to minimize brake usage as much as possible. I think I'm gonna get the posi quiets thru Nerweezy.
