If you get the M5 shift knob, you'll need the special wiring harness that my530i created a couple of years ago. Otherwise, the knob won't light up. I had the M5 shift knob and the wiring harness on my 2007 530 and it was great. I got compliments on it all the time. However, the key was the lighting up of the various symbols (D, R, N, etc..). This is what makes it. PM my530i and see if he'll make you a harness. His name is Fred.
