anybody know if the new IPODs announced this weel, especially the IPOD Touch, will be compatible with the BMW E60 as I understand the operating system is now MAC-OS based. I've just ordered 530D sport with the USB/IPOD interface and don't want to spend money buying a new ipod if they won't work together.

Any info appreciated.

Great question. My personal take on the new touch screen Ipod.... Great idea but with the flash memory of only 16GB max, how am I going to move my 30GB of movies and 45GB of music from my current 80 GB hard drive memory Ipod to it. The major upside in my opinion of the full screen video on the new ipod is to see movies but with the small amount of memory you can't store much. Im sure later versions of the touch screen version will have much larger flash memory capability so, i'm waiting for later. But I would love to know if this new touch screen model is in fact compatible with my car.

Hi Rowarta,

This issue is confusing to many, so here is the deal. Any 5 series built after march 07' can incorporate a USB ipod connection kit, which is what you indicated you will have. This cannot be retrofitted on a pre March 07' car, nor can it be dealer installed on a post March 07' car. Factory option only. SO, GOOD JOB ON YOUR PART. Your kit is not the little auxilliary jack for an MP3 in the center console that comes with all 5 series either. The new ipod, which will be fantastic (I've had my iphone since launch), will connect though the USB kit you ordered. This setup will be many times faster in loading music into the car once you connect it than the MOST ipod kit I have in my 550 (my car won't even load all the artists off my ipod).

Enjoy the touch ipod.
