I'm looking at replacing my well worn Dunlops and trying to figure out what's which tire gets the most bang for the $$$.

At BMW of San Diego I was quoted:
Dunlop RF's - $315 for front, $366 for rear
Bridgestone, Potenza RE050 RF: $320 for front, $466 for rear (not a typo)
+ $100 for installing 4 tires, balancing, etc

I could go with Costco Michelin Piolt Sport2: $257 for front, $306 for rear (price includes installation)

or
Pirell P Rosso Zero from Discount Tires: $1500 out the door

Total Cost Difference:
Dunlop: $1462 + $100+ tax
Bridgestone: $1572 + $100+ tax
Michelin Pilot Sport2: $1126 + tax
Pirelli: $1500 + tax

Question: Do you think the price difference worth it? What would you do?

I have PS2 for the fronts. Very comfortable and good handling.
Still have Dunlop RF for rears. I will replace them with PS2 when they are out.

My suggestion is stay away from Michelin. I have replaced two PS2's due to sidewall giving out. Each time attributed to "driver error". Funny, isn't this the same problem Michelin had at the US Grand Prix with sidewalls failing, and the PS2 just happens to be promoted by Michelin as using F1 technology. Too much coincidence.

Enough of my soap box. The PS2 is by far the best handling and riding performance tire I have owned and the treadlife if also good. Problem is the sidewalls cannot keep up with the tread.

I am going back to Bridgestone S03 PP.
