I just bought a pair of mirrors with all options; heated, folding, courtesey lights, auto dim and memory via ebay.

Currently my mirrors are only heated.

Has anyone retrofitted the full function mirrors already ? What can I expect ?
By the way, as a result of my retrofit comfort seats I had to change the "door module" to High (not sure what that means)

I do have another door switch panel with the folding button.

All tips welcome...

I also bought a pack of mirrors from Ikea and I'm wondering if it works on my car

What kind of mirror are you talking about? M5 mirror? Are those mirror coming from pre-09/05 car or post-09/05 car? If those coming from pre-09/05 car (with 3 connectors), it might work. I need to verify it over the weekend on BoBoB's car.
If you're in US, I think door module needs to be programmed to enable folding function. However, car looks ugly with mirror fold and it'll become a rain bucket fill with water and get damage

It's from pre-09/05 car. You want these on your cars? I though you want M5 mirror. Anyway, I think dealer needs to get involve in coding your door control module to enable all other functions.
Good luck.

can you take a 3-wire M5 mirror kit and make it work on a 2006 550i? Can the wires be spliced, or can the 'guts'of the mirror be exchanged from the stock mirror kit over to the M5 version? I just bought some from Ebay that appear to be 3 wire and Im hoping I can get them to work...

That was a good link my530i. I guess EU spec mirrors have the 3 cables coming out. I am confident I can attach those mirrors to my car and have all functions work.

I dont think so. I tried to retrofit these LEDs in the mirror but my door moudule (memory, auto dim, folding) gave no power to the pin.

In my oppinion the door module are only able for those functions the car was ordered with.

Harry, as part of the comfort seat retrofit my door modules were changed from "low" to "high". Based on my information there are only 2 type of door modules for the e60/61. I was hoping that with the newly fitted door modules I could easily connect the mirrors and have all functions work with a new CIP

I will take of the door trim and make a picture of my findings.

What did you do with your mirrors when you found out the led's weren't working ?
