Default New RPI GT installed on the 550, but questions...

Just got it installed this weekend and man, it is awesome! Thanks NeRwEEzy! The sound, especially in Sport mode or Manual shift mode with the slight backfiring is fantastic. However, i'm wondering if my exhaust is sitting just slightly too low. The installer showed me where the exhaust is very close to some brace behind the diff, so not much more that can be done to lift it other than bending the pipe. The muffler's rear hanger bracket was nowhere close to the car's bracket, so it had to be completely removed and re-positioned.

Also, my MPG has dropped by 4mpg! I was getting a steady 20mpg average, but now the meter is jumping all over the place...between 14.5-17.5. I'm wondering if that is because I'm in the throttle, but I've reset a couple of times and it's settling on 16-17 driving like I used to. Anyone experiencing this? Maybe I need to pull the battery's positive cable to reset the computer?

Sitting too low?

I don't have an RPI exhaust myself, but I have seen plenty of them installed. Yours looks fine, great even. It does not appear to be low to meat all. If you have any questions I know the guys at RPI are very responsive. As for the MPG? No idea, I have never heard of anyone losing MPG after an exhaust install.

Cool, thanks pjinca. I just thought the pipes should've been up within the cutout a little more. The fuel mileage thing, i'll just run it a few more days and see if it stabilizes...

thanks again good to hear you are enjoying it =)

regarding the fuel mileage, take off that heavy shoe =P but in all seriousness yes reset it and see if there is any change, also try to monitor average driving style as well.

Thanks guys. The mileage is improving and it looks like the adaptive logic on the xmission is perfect in "D" now. It downshifts almost at the touch of the throttle now instead of having to have to bury it.

If the fuel mileage doesn't pick up fully you can always try the transmission reset - turn key to "on" position without starting the car, press accelerator pedal for 25 seconds (or until you hear something) then start the car and drive normally. THis resets your transmission and makes it "re learn" your driving style for the next 1000 miles. The transmission adjusts shifting points and harshness based on your driving style.

Can you post a sound clip? I know it won't do the exhaust justice but I want to get the RPI exhaust too

Its not the exhaust sitting too low, its your car standing too high ( Just kidding )

Looks fine, but its your taste. You must lower your car for the car to look more aggressive. Enjoy the RPI.
