E60 standard rim offset = ET 20 front & rear
E60-M5 standard rim offset (M style 166 & 167) = ET 12 front - ET 28 Rear (because of the staggered setup) 8,5" front - 9,5" rear
A normal E60 like mine (520i) with a 16 mm spacer at the rears, goes to ET 12 (28-16=12) which gives a perfect look (exactly the same distance to the fenders like the fronts have)
M6 standard rim offset (M style 167) = ET 12 front - ET 17 Rear which is better than ET 28 (needs a 5 mm spacer to go to ET 12) or, you can leave it as it is, if you don't mind of the 5 mm inner the rears comparable to the fronts.

so your advice is to buy 167s for m6 and two 5mm rear spacers.

On a standard (non xi) E60, or Msport pack E60, with M5 or M6 rims onto, the wider tires you can mount to avoid rubbing, are:
245/35/R19 front - 275/30/R19 rear. At the front, forget about any spacer.
If you plan for a wider tire than 275 rear, then you have to go for the M5 rims with ET 28, because they have more free space (16 mm) to adjust with a spacer the gap between tire and fender, and simultaneously to prevent from rubbing, while at the M6 rims with ET 17 you have only 5 mm free space to adjust them.
At M6 rear rim, with 275 tire, no spacer needed. If you place a 5mm spacer, then rubbing probably will occur.
M5-E60 & M6-E63 standard tires are: 255/40/R19 front - 285/35/R19 rear.
I have mounted on mine 235/35 front, 265/30 rear, which are already too much for a 520i (2.2 lt. engine - 170 HP)
