Unfortunately for right now. Wish I had the time to hand wash it but I don't.

I think the car looks fantastic. Much better than those other rims you had on the car. We're talking night and day here. Good job. Lower it, don't lower it. It's all good.

SP530xi, those front wheels are sticking out waaay too much, did you get a staggered setup or are they all the same? That could be the problem as the M5's setup is staggered (wider in the rear). It looks like you have the rears in the front.

SP530xi Your car looks the business don't take any notice of the negative comments I think the little green devil is starting to show and suggesting you put the wheels on the wrong axles well that is both juvenile and insulting it appears to me that the brain is not being engaged before the mouth if you get my meaning Good Luck and as I say the car looks great

tomwid,
The M5 wheel's are a staggered setup. I am pretty sure I put the rear wheels where they are supposed to be . I guess it sticks out in the front for everybody who has the wheels.

I'm a little concerned by this, because I was planning on doing Style 166 wheels (M5 wheels) on my 530xi. The reason I am concerned is because they definitely do not stick out in the front that much for other people who have them. Here are a couple examples:

Style 166 on 535d Sport

Style 166 on 545iA Sport

So it seems that something must be different with the xi, because those front wheels/tires are sticking out way too much...have you been able to find anything out about this since you last posted?

Finally done with all the modifications I wanted to do to the car.? Getting close to 2,000 miles and loving every minute.? The B&B exhaust is great (beautiful sound).? Thanks to the great information on the debadging post - taking mine off was easy.? And installed the M5 rims about a week back and a great difference (looks and handling) from my original choice for rims.? Here are some pics (few more in my gallery).?

Both of your cars looks great. Do you, either of you, know how much the M5 rims weigh? Do you have the M5 rim part numbers? I assume you got them through a dealer. Right?

Edit: After reading more carefully, I think the rims shown are factory 166's right? Still wonder about weight. Thanks.

Dave - I did not find anything out on the reason as to why the front wheels seem to be sticking out so much on my car and not so much on others. I am wondering if anybody else on the forum also put 166's on their xi so they can post pictures to compare. I really haven't been looking into it becuase I am ok with how it looks. Guess that doesn't help you much

Donv - I can't seem to find the part numbers for both, but I had an invoice for the front wheels which gave me a part number of 36-11-7-834-625. I believe that the part number for the 19 rears are different only in the last three numbers (might be 626 or 627). I am not sure as to the weight, but for some reason 31 lbs is sticking out in my mind. They are factory 166's.

I think you are about right on the weight; the factory rims seem to run in the 32 lb. to 35 lb. from most accounts I've now seen. An exception is the 19" 101's for the 5 series that weight about 22 lbs. Thanks much for the information.
