Tomorrow I am having M5 fender grilles/gills retro fitted on to my 550. I'm not going with the M5 badge/sticker but would like to put something there in it's place. There isn't much to choose from on eBay (see below). Are there any vendors out there that carry these metal stickers / emblems? I was wanting something with a little color (ACS, Hammann, BMW, etc...). The M5 sticker is about 57mm x 12mm. I know it's a shot in the dark but thought I'd throw it out there, in the event one of you have found something similar....

I'd just spray paint the ///M5 emblem black and stick it on.

The surface that it mounts to is already black so I wouldn't have to do anything, if I wanted it black. However, I like the little bit of color. But I may just decide not to put anything there, if I don't find anything I like.

My body shop guy said it was pretty straight forward. The grilles from eBay were great quality and come with paper templates that you tape to the fenders, with painters tape. He used a rotary tool (dremel, black & decker, etc...) to cut out the holes. It seems most guys had to remove the fender but my guy didn't. He also put rust inhibitor around the edges to prevent rust. Do a search on member Hiepsta's posts... he's got some good pictures of the DIY. He was also very helpful... giving me tips, etc...

looks good!

Have you thought about having the side grille powder coated black or matte black?

+1 ... but I'd keep the shiny grill look and recommend a tint on the side markers to diminish their visual impact so as to highlight the vent.
