Well now that my car is on the way, I have been in close contact with my dealer regarding the accessrories I want to add. The M5 Kit will be installed at the port, but the actual wheels are a different story. My dealer is going thru a wheel and tire shop who orders them dierectly from BMW out of Germany. He said they are very hard to get (either high demand or low supply), but he is working on it for me. Also what he mentioned is that the rear wheel are harder to get than the front wheels...I will also have the wheel guy chrome them for me. I just hope that they do come thru. I think it is going to make the car!

 

Hey how much would the M5 wheels go for can you let me know? I'm just wondering... prob wont get them. But if the price is right anything is possible.

 

i'm confused ... have you ordered an M5? or a non M but adding M5 kit? if so, do you mean M Sport kit?

 

The M5 (166M) rims cost USD 2000.00 for four pcs here in Singapore. This is for the staggered set-up. The std set-up is only about USD 100 - 130 cheaper. These can be ordered and received within a couple of weeks. They are genuine BMW wheels.

No, he doesn't mean the M Sport Kit. The M Sport Kit/M Sport Package is not available in the US (for those who don't know, the M Sport Package adds not only the M front and rear bumpers and side skirts, but also upgrades the suspension to the M components and adds some other M mechanical goodies throughout the vehicle).

What is available in the US is the M Aero Kit, which ONLY adds the M body pieces (front and rear bumper and side skirts). The M Aero Kit can be ordered from the dealer and installed after the fact, or can be installed and painted at a BMW Vehicle Preparation Center before it arrives at your dealer for delivery. This is what he's talking about.

Also, the Style 166 (E60 M5) wheels, while not yet stocked regularly by BMW's US parts centers, are indeed available. Any US BMW dealer can order them. Yes, they do come from Germany, but the dealer doesn't have to go through any "special" company or process; they can get them themselves through their normal BMW parts ordering process.

The part numbers are:

Style 166 front wheel: 36 11 7 834 625
Style 166 rear wheel: 36 11 7 834 626

Depending on your dealer's markup, the wheels are about $2000 for the set of 4. The rear wheels are a little more expensive than the front wheels. The largest tire size officially recommended[1] by BMW for non-M E60 vehicles (excluding xi models) is 245/40-19 front and 275/35-19 rear.

[1] Yes, some people have different/larger wheel and tire combos, but this is the largest supported sizing.

 

Well spoke to my dealer today. We have ordered the M5 wheels thru an outside company. They should arrive within 3 weeks from Germany.
The prices are as follows:
- Wheels - $2000
- Tires - Michelin Sport - $1390
- Chrome of wheels - $1100

He also offered to give me $1000 for my stock set. I think that is a bit low, but will search for the guy who had a post looking for stock E60 wheels.

What do you think about this deal??

Umm thats about right. The 545 wheels at 18" are $280 and $325 each! So considering the M5 wheels are 19"... that is about the price... I mean if he shopped around harder he might save a few bucks but not by much...
