I had the same thing done for my st wheel at a leather shop in Miami. I have seen other companies that will recover your st wheel show up on Craigs list. So, it doesnt seem too uncommon. There was a thread in here from an M5 owner, which is where I got mine done. Take off your st wheel, they strip off the old leather, build it up as thick as you want with a synthetic lining and apply a waterproof leather. You can use different leathers, stitching (they asked if I wanted M red/blue color...which I didnt get), etc. Cost is around $300-$400.

Guys, I think this is the eBay seller in Germany. Perhaps we could arrange a group buy? http://cgi.ebay.de/BMW-E60-M5-M-POWER-Leder-Lenkrad-Lederausatattung-E61_W0QQitemZ220420541272QQihZ012QQcategoryZ53942QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

"Here is offered EXCHANGE ONLY! We biten only to obtain NEW! A new steering wheel, you are only used against your equal! Offered here is an original BMW E60 and E61 multi-function steering wheel (air bag version) WITHOUT the airbag. The steering wheel will fit the following vehicles: All E60 and E61 version before Face Lift UP ONLY BJ. 09/2005 * There are two identical-looking wheels and both are before the facelift version.
1. Model until 09/2005 2. 09/2005 model after the second model (after 09/2005) can be found in our Ebay shop. Please check with BMW if it fits in your vehicle. End of the auction:

The cost for this from this guy on eBay is $181 USD but does not include shipping. Not sure if he is willing to ship to the US.

I will try contacting the seller regarding a group buy. Those interested in a group buy please sign up and I will post when I have more info.

Can you provide additional information on who re-did your steering wheel?

Here it is:

All In Leather Corp.
13315 sw 88 avenue
Miami, FL 33176

305.233.0732

If you can find a local shop that does it, it is a great option to shipping your wheel off (which is what started this thread) or going through the process of finding an M wheel, air bag, etc.

So we pay $181, we get a new wheel. Once we install it we ship back the old wheel?
