The picture from M5 looks too cold with UFO knob and without wood trim.

personally, I dont like the M5 knob. I prefer the leather insert. the M5's doesnt look elegant at all for a luxury car. But..WTH..the car itself is a beauty!!!

[/quote]I guess it is plastic covered with Ruthenium metal. the reason for this is when on the cold/hot day the idrive seems to attract cold and hot temperature very much. Just like metal's characteristics

There's a reason (or least i hope there is) why the knob is plastic
- in hot weather at least it's not going to heat up
