New E60 body sport design
#12
Hopefully the US will get the Euro Spec (bmw uk) versions of the 525/530/545 sport with the upgraded engines (333 hp in the 545 sport saloon!!!) and M aero kits.
I'm afraid however that BMWUSA will follow the route of the 3 series. I remember they offered the "M package" on the 330 Coupe in its 2nd model year that was mostly interior and exterior upgrades (M steering wheel, M wheels etc). It wasn't until this year that they added the upgraded engine with +10hp. Which means we might see the M body kit in the next 1-2 years but will have to wait until the last model year to see an engine upgrade.
Either way I'm in an SUV lease until June 2006. Hopefully by then we will have a 545sport with M aero kit/300+ hp/Bluetooth/Sirius/Ipod compatible/clear eyebrows beast.

Welcome Ray S! You sound somehow pessimistic? Why is that? Maybe it's all those product liability laws in US what allow people to sue companies and get millions even they have been stupid them selves.
Example:
Guy bought mobile home and because it had cruise controll he put that on and went back to make coffee. Of course mobile crashed, but guy get new one because manual did not say,"You can not..."
True or story, I dont know.
Skaffa
PS don't dry your cat in microwave.

Thanks for all the welcomes!
This is a great board and the members are friendly and very helpful. I've been reading all of your posts for 1-2 months and I am always impressed by how enthusiastic everyone is about their new 5 series.
Sorry if I sounded pessimistic. Actually I am thrilled about the new 5 series and I can't wait to order mine. I bought my first BMW in 2001 (325Ci) and have loved every minute. I, too, look for reasons to drive it everyday.
I300TTto545 you are right. If you do the metric conversion the difference in hp between the US and Euro version is smaller. But why are BMW models "'detuned" here in the US, even slightly? I want to experience the same exhiliration that our European brethren do when they get behind the wheel. I guess we would need an autobahn first, right?
Great to be here guys!
Thanks
