So I found a full set of trims on ebay and proceeded to have it painted a color I chose together with nicke60gre who has experience with this type of mod. It was just a matter of opening up a color sample book and choosing one, I wanted something that would suit the Ruthenium on my steering wheel, pedals and still have a darker tint of brown - I guess the elegance of the high gloss poplar wood still has an effect on me !
You might say this would be a hard combo to achieve, but a high gloss pearl based paint can achieve various tints at various angles and light conditions. There was one that kinda combines this - it's hard to see the color temp of this from pics, in reality it's very elegant and modern - high gloss and changing tint depth.

One unique difference: I painted the centre console as well ala 6 series..!

I was afraid it would disrupt the lines of the dashboard, but my first impression was very positive - it's a very interesting mod !

Although I haven't installed the trims on the side door panel, it's quite a dramatic change - it's simply awesome.

This how my interior initially looked like:

Initial work: disassembly is a BUGGER !

That looks fantastic. I love it. I also really like the matching trim around the center piece. Looks great. Much sportier than the wood.

How much did this cost you? It looks brilliant. Wood trim was the only reason I did not take the Luxury Package in the UK because they forced the Wood Trim on you. I felt the wood makes the car a bit 'old man' and even though the Alu Trim is cheaper on its own BMW refused to swap the Wood in the Luxury pack for the Alu Trim. Had I known that it was so easy to change it I would have taken it.

Got the complete set of trims from ebay for 125euros, painted them for another 130 (including 2 layers of clear coat) and installed them myself - peanuts really...you could do several sets of different colors and change every summer/winter - hmmmm...
