thanx for the options...looks like the air intake is my best option for a low cost upgrade along with a new filter.
prob gonna add a sprintbooster to smooth out the transmission and give it some "pop", that with the other additions should help. thanx

What is this charcoal filter you are reffering too? This is the first I've heard of it, are you just reffering to the air intake filter?

some e60s have it, and some dont. the charcoal filter is an emissions filter. when you take the top part of the air box, you see the air filter. at the top that you just removed, there may be a charcoal filter there that goes right up against the air filter when the box is in one piece. (hope this makes sense)
Thanks I'll have to see if mine has or not.

My Ride: 2006 M5 with many mods....
Check the RPI website for more ideas...
Go with their RPI underdrive pulley system....relatively cheap mod, with a nice HP gain. Also look at an ECU remap after you get the scoops, BMC filters and block off plates. If you have some $$$ burning a hole in you pockets , then by all means KEEP GOING:
RPI exhaust (all 3 sections)
RPI Headers
RPI oil cooler
RPI stage 2 ECU remap

however, there is an exhaust by RPI specifically for the 530

I think jjsigpi was joking. Don't get the AFE, its been proven to decrease performance. I didn't realize you didn't have a sprint booster, get that before anything else. Its the biggest impact.
why would anyone want to decrease performance...?

No one would want to decrease performance... it was joke that I guess you didn't understand. Several members on this forum bought an AFE intake only to realize it doesn't do what it's stated to do: Increase HP. It does however make the car sound louder which made some peopple happy. Use the search function and do some research on this... this is a widely "frowned" upon part and no one would ever suggest for you to buy it. Anyways, once again, when i suggested this "downgrade" it was as a joke just like the guy who suggested taking out the floor mats...
Serious Performance Upgrades:
1) Sprint Booster (This is a must or else your car will never move)
2) New Exhaust for better airflow and better HP and MPG (a little though)
3) Dinan High Flow Air Filter (dinan.com)
4) Get lighter rims/better tires
5) Lowering Springs (Eibach or H&R)
6) Quaife LSD
7) VF Supercharger
8) Anything TrinityAutosport or Eurorev suggests
9) Anything else you can think of...

sometimes its difficult to recognize a comedic tone in text...ill pay more attention next time, thanx for the clarification....
anyway, im gonna try to remove the floor mats today, ill get back to you guys on how it works out. once im done ill post a DYI, with pics of course. one question though, does this mod affect my warranty???
