i know there are a lot of topics about it but i couldn't find a topic that answered my question.

The dealer called this afternoon and advised me to get new rear tyres, my car is in for service and it would take 2 days .

My big question is what to do:

I've got the 18 inch 550 rims with the dunlops runflat (i have a spare tire!!!)
But i think the ride is a bit hard, i drive about 3 to 4 hours a day and want a little bit more comfort. What should i do? Stay with rf's from another brand or should i go for non rf's? I like it when they have i little bit of durability, don't want to change them every 20k km's

What brand and type would you guys recommend me?

btw if i would go for non rf's should i change the rf's in front also (their are still pretty good)

I also have 18" wheels style 124 (with tyre size 245 front / 275 rear).
The car was originally fitted with Dunlop runflats but i changed last February to Pirelli P Zero Rosso (all around).
These tyres are perfect if you are looking for a more comfort in 18" without loosing to much on performance. Actualle any non-runflat tyre will drive more comfort than your runflats but the P Zero Rosso's are offering the most comfort in the top-end tyres according to a tyre test i read at that time.
I'm very happy with them.

When it comes to wear of tyres do not buy summer Pirelli. They have very nice grip (behave a bit worse on wet surfaces), but all varieties (Rosso, Nero) wear out in 15/20 tkm.
On my 330Ci I have had Bridgestone Potenza S03 Pole Position and lasted 45.000 km, just as I sold the car. Much better on wet roads and very fine on dry.
If you are looking for winter option; I had Pirelli Snow Sport 240 (in 225/45 R17) as this was a very good and affordable choice.
As I just ordered my new 535d I have asked my dealer to order brand new Dunlop Winter Sport 3D (non run flat) as it had great results in Auto-Motor-Sport dated 14.10. (?).

 

Like Anold1971, I collected my (second) E60 in July, drove on the Bridgestone RE050 RF's for 3 days before changing to P-Zero Rossos. I did weigh up what the chances of getting a puncture was but decided the massive increase in comfort and silence was better than having to change a tyre on a bad evening. I don't do a lot of mileage so the chances of getting a puncture have probably gone down.

I fumbled over the decision for a long while before the car arrived even thinking that I made a mistake when I said yes. However, after driving the car even out of the car park - nice decision.

I don't use winter tyres so I need tyres that also performe well in the wet because of the weather over here.
About the Pirelli's: I don't like the fact that they would only last 20k km's because that would mean i should changes my tyres 3 times a year!!
Any other suggestions?

 

Autoexpress magazine as fas as I can remember ran a tyre test and the overall winner was Vredestein. Had a quick look on the web but cannot find it. Maybe you could do some searching as well.

I live in Florida where it rains constantly in the summer months. I also don't change out tires and therefore I also need all around performance. Actually, I just ordered new tires today. I ordered the Pirelli PZero Nero M&S. I hear these are great All Season tires that handle well in both dry and wet conditions as well as having decent tread life.

 

Just as a first hand experiance, I have used Pirelli P Zero Rosso twice on 330Ci and had to change FRONT (not rear) tyres after 20 tkm as they were worn out.
I do not brake or accelerate abnormally in order for tyres to be worn out so quickly.
Have a look at Bridgestone Touranza or Potenza. Great choice!

 

How about if you want a all season tires. Which one do you seletc? Assuming you get some snow and also ordered your car with sport pkg (17x8 style 122)
