I am down to the cords on my Dunlop runflats. Only 21,600 miles on them.
Time for new tires.
I saw a lot of people here have upgraded to Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. I want these tires.
But I just went to the Michelin website and entered my car into their tire fit thing, and they claim to not have any tires that fit a 2005 545i Sport Package.
This can't be true, seeing as so many people here have the PS2.
So... what size do I need to get?
My Dunlops say: Front 245 40 R18
Rear 275 35 R18
Do I need to know anything else before I order my tires?

Anyone have these tires, and how do they compare to the AWFUL Dunlop runflats that I have?
I am really tired of the road noise and tramlining from my runflats.

My car was delivered to me with those bridgestone.
They are real hard not comfortable at all.
After 43.500 kms i changed them for the same bridgestone model but without RFT. Much more comfortable but next time i will try the CONTINETAL SPORTCONTACT2 they are less expensive and very good.

I just ordered the PS2s myself. If you're going to compare them with bridgestones, match them up against the S03s or the RE050As (non-runflat).
What tire you should get depends on your driving style and concerns over performance, comfort and wear. Other than price, the PS2 may be the best balanced street tire out there, but it may not necessarily fit everyones needs. Sure another tire may have less ultimate grip, but if you don't explore those limits, then what's the point. Something like the continental contisportcontact 2s may have less overall performance in the dry, but makes up for it in price and treadware that could last twice as long.
I was debating whether the price of the PS2s were warranted, not really sure if they are, but I've never driven on these tires, so I thought I'd give them a try. If you just want to cruise around town and don't intend to go the the track or do an autocross event, then any ultra high performance tire from the top brands should do you fine.

I have the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A RFT and I'm not satisfied!! Go for the Michelin, I think I will change next year as well!

My Ride: E60 530D SE
I could have changed my standard fit 17" Bridgestone Potenza RE 050 RFT 245/45 R17 95W, but I chose to stick with them.
They have stiff sidewalls and not as comfortable as other non RFT tyres, but after having two flat tyres on two seperate occasions I really appreciated the fact that I could carry on driving, until I could safely change the tyre. I even managed to drive to my dealer to get the first one changed. (I've been told RFTs can't be repaired?)
I don't think the stiffness of the tyre affects handling, I think the stiff sidewalls may even help when cornering hard.
So personally I'm going to stick with RFTs, even though they are more expensive, as I think they are safer and more convenient. I'm not too concerned with them being a tad harsher and I don't really notice the difference. After all if I wanted a Super-soft Comfy Mobile I'd buy a Mercedes.
I ordered my other replacement Bridgstone tyre via the internet to save money, it arrived within 24hrs and was labeled as being specifically for a BMW E60 5 Series.

I have decided on the Michelins. I have always been a Michelin tire person, so I think I should just stick with my natural instincts.
I am away from home currently. So I went to the local BMW dealer, and asked about ordering the Michelins.
They said they can't order the PS2... only the Pilot Sports.
Should I go somewhere else to get my tires, and get the PS2.... or is there really not any noticable difference, and also... is it best to stick with having BMW mount and balance them?
