Michelin Pilot Super Sports. All others pale in comparison.

If you want to use it year round keep it square and keep the tire size you have. If you want to make your wheels look more flush with the fender you can use spacers. If you want to get new rims you can go up to 19-20's, thats a whole different story on sizing plus you can run square or staggared and use your stock rims for winter rubber if you get much snow. Then you can get the best in the winter and summer, worth the investment imo.

Also for tires, go to the big sites, sift through the reviews, educate yourself. People here will most likely post what ever they are running on their car

Square means same size rims? Can you tell me the advantage of large rims and tires? is the perfomance increased in handling? and worth the money?

Thank for the help.

I'm sure you meant 530xi ... that said, in my opinion it depends on your driving style and conditions under which you normally travel (e.g. lots of highway ... city stop and go ... aggressive ... docile, etc.) The 'incorrect' tire for your normal operation can have you think the tire is horrible when it's just not properly suited to your everyday driving needs.

One consideration, if you have run flat tires, is to go with a conventional tire. Some prefer the ride and the lower cost. Another, if you go that route, is if you don't have a spare tire and associated equipment, that will be recommended if you forgo RFTs (run flat tires).

As for opinions - they'll go all over the place ... from ultra high perf to highway rollers etc etc. I recommend starting with the tests and reviews at Tirerack. (Add a grain of salt to personal reviews there or other consumer-related places!)

One last item - the 17" set-up on your xi is well suited to driving on bad roads/potholes, etc. The 18" set up is a standard upgrade / option but pay attention to the posts about wheel offsets for xi models. Many even up their wheels / tires to 19" / 20" ... that's a personal choice between you and your wallet.

Welcome and good driving!!
