The roads in Macedonia are a disaster, but 18'' rims looks really great,
E60 is meant to have a minimum 18" rims. It looks amazing with big rims.

I'm reading this forum for a while but I haven't joined till now.

I'm ordering 525 or 530i with sport package, and the other thing that is not yet decided is whether I shoud go for rims 124 od 135.? The color will be Silver Gray, althought Carbon Black looks cool also, but don't want to lose the beautiful exterior shape.

Please tell me your experience and advice, and post some pictures with rims 135 especially with Silver Gray(if you have). I have seen rims 124 many times.?

Also is there a big difference in power between 525i and 530i? Noticable in everyday use?

Hi there,

IMHO, the 124s look much better than the 135s. The 135 spokes are too thin and stuble curves throughout the car need wheels following this theme. I actually think the 123s look good in person, which come with the 530 sports here in the U.S. The only spoked wheel I'd consider would be the 172, which would need something like a M-sport package to look good.

As for color, I think the E60 is the toughest car to select a color. Given all the curves and shadows, various different colors look better on the fenders, side panels and rear panels. Its maddening trying to decide. Silver grey is by far the safest choice, silver and white are alternate choices. Interestingly, Chris Bangle in an interview mentioned that the E60 looks better in lighter colors as opposed to the 7 series looking better in darker colors. This is believable. Black is nice, but I agree the curves on the car can dissappear or are diffcult to image. Picking the interior is not easy as well.

Good luck deciding and congrats.

PS Don't even think about getting an 525. Go 530 or higher!!

I think I'll go for a 530i, it's about 7000 Euros more in Macedonia, but .........

Hi,

some thoughts from austria...

i have the 124 for summer (8j and 9j) and the 124 for winter (all around 8j). people say, the 124 are better than the 135 because of the wider rear. take a look at the picture:

i have done some calculations - because of the offset of the rear tires (9j with ET 32), the rear tires stick out only 0,6mm more than the standard front tires, ie. you dont get the effect of wider rears at the back.

the bottom line - 124 should not be ordered because one thinks the wider tires in the rear fill the gap - it does not. my 124 in winter with 8j in the rear fill the rear as much as the summer 124 with 9j.

my choice - go for 172, or if not 19, stick to 135...

and ps. RFT is a pain, without RFT the ride is soooo much nicier...

greetings from vienna.
