New to the forums, so hello all....

I just bought an 05 545 and couldn't be happier. Absoutley love the car. I want to put some kind of 20" rim (have been considering MHT Vendetta's or 166's (opinions are appreciated)) Had a question about lowering springs. Car is equiped with sport package so is there any benefit to replacing springs? I dont want to slam the car but do want it to look right with 20's. Also concerned with rubbing issues. I like the height that the H&R sport springs give but it doesn't seem much lower than it sits right now, is it? Any advise would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

welcome. 166s are beautiful wheels but they dont come in 20", unless replica. as for lowering the car, yes it is a more aggressive feel when driving. with oem sport springs, the car is .7" lower than standard. from a standard 545, the H&R sport will lower it 1.3" front and 1.2" rear. with the sport package, it's just the difference if you choose to lower it with H&R sports, so it would lower .6" front and .5" rear. hope this helps. enjoy the forums.

So are you saying that if you have the sport springs that come with the sport pack you get basically the same drop as with the H&R sport springs thus not need to lower on 20"s

You will get about an inch or a little more all the way around with H&R sport springs as opposed to the stock sport springs. With the 20s the H&R's would be the icing on the cake

Okay so I ended up going with OEM 166's, I figured I'd save a few bucks going that route vs. 20's and maybe pick up the aero kit eventually. Very happy, even though they are somewhat common I really like that look. I think I'll put the H&R sport springs as well. With the stock sport suspension it seems like the car has somewhat of a rake to it. I'd actually prefer if it were more level. Right now I have about 3 fingers gap in the rear 2 fingers gap in the front. So my question is this...Going off what you're saying about the springs lowering it .6 front/.5 rear, does it appear the car has more rake to it or does the fact that there is little or no fender gap make the rake less apparent? Also how is the ride with those springs? Thanks

The ride is better in all instances, the fact that you have 166's it will be close too factory smooth until you take a corner

On the gap the rear should close to 2 fingers all around. But dont the 545,550 have rear leveling suspension? that might have a effect

You have got to stop telling people that e60s have rear-leveling suspension. It's not true. Rear-leveling is only available on the e61 model. I have asked you before to show the proof that e60s have rear-leveling.

Here is how it looks with H&R sports with 166. Ride quality same as stock but better.

+1000...you also previously posted something on another thread that read 'If you have the Sports Pkg., you'll have self-leveling'. It's NOT CORRECT. Please get your information correct before presenting them as 100% facts which led to my confusion and possibly any future members that are looking for the answer to the same question.
