I am lowering my 545 with H&R Sports. This is a non sport car that I will be running 20's on.
I have read some that say the sport springs are very close to stock...I want to know if I need to upgrade my shocks as well or if the factory shocks and the sport springs will be a pretty good ride?
Give me your opinions and experiences please!
Thanks,
Jake

The H&R's are NOT close to stock ride. They are pretty harsh in comparison, and you will get a bit on bounce. On 20's your car will look great with the H&R's, but don't expect a stock ride or anything near comfortable. I had them on my old 530xi, and the ride was brutal.
Some here will disagree, but from almost everything I've read H&R's are some of the most harsh ones around. Eibach's give a ride closer to stock, but don't drop it as much as the H&R's.

I have the eibachs on mine with no aftermarket shocks and on 20s. Ride in my opinion is comfortable and not too bouncy. eibachs give closest ride to stock. Not too sure about H&R sports since the ride is a little harsher from what Ive heard.

I actually chose H&R Sports based on everyones opinions of them being closest to the factory sport..LOL. So if I go with Koni FSD shocks as well do you think that will even out the playing field?

I doubt you'll be satisfied with springs only. I am telling you, the ride is going to suck with just H&R sports! If you are going to do it, do it right!

I'm not real familiar with mixing and matching aftermarket springs and struts. From what I know about the stock struts with H&R's, the rebound rates are off and I would surmise that the same will be true with your proposed setup, however it would probably work together a bit better. Make sure you get the aftermarket bumpstops as well.
You didn't have the choice of going with a complete coilover set?

I suppose I had the choice but was recommended this particular set up from other guys with my same vehicle on here....

Just as an fyi, my 530xi on those H&R's rode MUCH harsher that my M5 does now, set on full SPORT EDC mode, the harshest setting.

If you have the ability, I'd scrap that setup for a complete coilover deal. I don't know much about which ones are better than others, but I'd have to say they will ALL ride better than what you are proposing!

For me, I wanted my car to sit low and handle better (my coilovers are set to very stiff), my ride is harsh but I love how my car sits.
And if you do plan to get coilovers, I suggest you get KW v2. They have a better rebound than the PSS9 but you have to fork out a little more $$$. pm r1racer for best deals on the KW v2
BTW, Jake its me John@EuroRev
