I just bought a 2007 525i and am really disappointed with it's performance. My friend has a 530 and it feels like night and day. What can I do to make up the gap? Air intake? Chip? Any help would be appreciated.

You can get RPI scoop, bmc or k&n intake air filter, sprintbooster, and RPI exhaust.

I have a 525 which is even slower than yours, 2004. I'd recommend a sprint booster.

Thanks guys. Exhaust seams a bit expensive. Can I expect good results from sprintbooster and intake? Will if feel like the 530? Will this effect my warranty and factory sensors?

THANKS!

sprintbooster will not have any actual power gains, only increased throttle response. also in addition to an intake setup, we still have our special going on for the RPI exhaust for the 525/530 and also, welcome and enjoy the forums.

How come nobody has mentioned the ECU flash upgrade? I heard that the air intake and exhaust will screw up the computer? This car is so slow compared to the 530 I can't stand it.

I changed my exhaust to some Russian made exhaust with the name MG Racing that was not designed for any specific car but fitted just perfect and the sound I digg. It was a tight fit though but I love its looks

the performance I think must hacve been effected its a straight exhaust I could see through the wholes before it got fitted I think its on par with RPi exhausts and costed me less then $200 with installation as far as I remember... if not less...

My friend has a 2008 530i with an Fox exhaust, 17" wheels vs. my 2008 525i Sport M-Racing and 18" M-type wheels

so we line 'em up on a straight road for a drag

Well I can tell you he won me a couple of times due to my mistake pressing the pedal bit later then him and I won him couple of times the engines are the same you know, I was thinking of chip tuning it but got talked out of it as I wouldnt notice any difference is what Ive been told by many. My computer didnt reflect ibn any way to an exhaust change so dont worry and it will not react to a chip tune. I just didnt chip it as Im a bit afraid how will it handle during winter when its like -15c now and sometimes it can drop even more.. you know what if the engine wont operate properly due to not reaching proper temperature due to chip tuning
