Hello guys, I just want get some feedback on updating the NAV to 2009 as I got a letter from BMW for NAV update for $199. How many of you guys have updated your NAV. For me, I don't feel the need for an update!

Does anyone know which BMW's use the same Nav disc? I used to work at a salvage yard and can get used ones for cheap!
AND NO....its not worth it unless your NAV disc is older then 3 years or so.

All the newer US based I-Drive cars use the same Nav, "Professional" Nav Discs......and the older cars with the MkIV us "High". I am pretty sure thats how that works.

As far as worth, it depends- have the roads near you undergone any major construction changes since you got your disc? then it might be worth it. Remember it also updates all the travel info, like hotels, restaurants, etc. along with their phone numbers. I use that quite a bit for reservations and the like.

the 1, the new 3, and the 5 share the same disk. The E65 uses the old "high" disc, same as the MkIV.

I just got the latest update. DO NOT DO IT! I have a few ticks in the iDrive system that were NOT there before. I am really annoyed. It's more so because I took the car in for an Emissions Light that came on a few weeks ago and I thought it was an O2 sensor. When I arrived at the dealer, later in the day, I learned it was being given the latest software update. I was immediately concerned about this update, as I've heard stories about the latest not always being the greatest. Well, sure enough, the latest isn't the greatest. My iDrive was PERFECT before. Now, it's not. I'm about to send a letter to the General Manager of the dealership and the Manager of Service. I am so angry.
That said, here's my thought. If it works fine as is, leave it. As the old cliche goes, "Don't fix, what's not broken".
