When you did the retrofit, did they change your screen to a larger one or leave the original smaller screen in? also im assuming that they removed the cd player and put in a dvd player correct? or did they just add an additional player?

I am thinking about doing it if they change the screen out to the larger one. Also does anyone have a part number for the kit?

thanks as always.

I am having it done tomorrow and yes, a new larger screen and they add a DVD slot so you will have two slots on your dash, one CD and one DVD. A new trim piece needs to be ordered to replace the one already on the dash.

Is there any way to tell if I have the 6UA update (the Pre Wiring for NAV) without calling BMW directly? I have an 05 530i (built in 10/04) Premium, Sport.

I had Nav. retrofitted after I bought the car. The end product is that of a model that was ordered from the factory that way. I also had the CPT-900 retrofitted....so there are no conflicts as far as that goes. Good Luck

I am from London - and asked BMW how much it would cost for a retro fit - I was told approx 3.5k(?'s) + VAT!

The only way I know of is to call BMWNA or your parts guy at your dealer with your VIN number. The 6ua option was not listed on my new car sticker but my 11/03 build 545 had it.

YOu can get a cool portable Nav/GPS for about half the price of the BMW retrofit. Use it wherever you are.

So your saying that you had to get the prewiring (wiring) installed after you bought the car. CPT-9000, may I ask what this is?, How much did the whole project cost keeping in mind the freebee with BMW

Also anyone know if you change the screen to the 8.8" without changing to nav?

Thanks in advance

In order to get NAV retrofitted your car must have option 6UA. The parts guy can tell you if you have it or not when you give him your VIN #. Cost of NAV is $1800 and anything over that BMWNA is picking up the difference until 5-31-2005. The cost will go up after 5-31-2005. Refer to service bulletin 84 10 04 dated 6/2004. CPT is the BMW phone system, non bluetooth. Consists of phone cradle, eject box and BMW phone, Motorola V-60i and total cost including installation is about $1000 to $1200. Can't answer question re: larger sceen. If you get NAV retrofitted, larger screen is included.
