I have to share with you guys my recent mod, which I've been long looking forward to do: I had Nav Pro retrofitted few days ago by this highly specialized BMW electronics workshop In Wrocław (Poland).

Initially, we were discussing retrofitting the CIC as the parts are already available directly from the factory and the coding it to the E60 apparently is all worked out But eventually, given the 3x difference in price between the CIC and the CCC (I have late 2006 production unit) I decided to go after the standard CCC, just like Mother-Dingolfing-Nature designed it for my pre-LCI E60....

Anyway, retrofit went simply perfect and quite fast - to my surprise (half day including physical installation and car-coding).

What I have to mention is how amazed I was by professional, talented and efficient approach of these guys in terms of BMW electronics!!
They virtually do everything for their beemer clients:
- re-code US imported BMWs into EU specs (apparently very common given the BMW US pricelist significantly lower than in EU)
- retrofit almost anything anywhere (recent things they had done were for example: retrofitting CIC into new M3, nightvision and headup into X6, and BMW individual audio into E60!!)

I was also planning to retrofit the DVD-multimedia-changer along with my Nav Pro (they had that glovebox one from X5 and then a big trunk one from 7-series, both working perfectly in E60), but as this mod was quite pricey at the moment, my Better Half suggested that we do it some other time... and.. spend the money on the BMW babyseat (we have a baby-boy on the way, for end of June!!)
But anyway, what's great about these guys they apparently worked the CCC software inside-out to the smallest pieces, for example they found bits responsible for video watching while driving and without any other additional TV-free module they are able to connect the DVD-changer with CCC to play it while in motion, amazing!! And what's more important: all this without foolish effects of TV-free module artificially telling CCC that car is stationary and handbrake is on, so car's gyroscope signal still allows CCC to find the car's exact position in tunnels while your DVD is playing on the iDrive screen... Sweeeet and so clever!

Along with the CCC retrofit I finally got also my mp3 playback capability which I was missing so much since the beginning in the MASK.
Moreover, I got rid of the Spanish (which unfortunately I don't know...) from my iDrive menu initial factory setup, and now my NAV speaks to me in German, US English (which I prefer) and of course: sexy French... The choice I couldn't have with the local BMW dealer where I ordered my car. Another great thing about this retrofit!
I only wish that 2008 DVD would also have list of all speed-cameras as POI, especially for France...

To wrap it up, I am extremely happy about the retrofit and the professionalism these guys present (including replacement car for the installation day, pickup at the hotel, etc. etc.) so I recommend them to anyone who wants to retrofit anything to any recent BMW!

Here's their site with the short presentation of CIC, also with CIC in Russian!

Can you please give some information about these guys?
I'm thinking about refiting by Business to Prof too.

Sorry for using this thread for this question, but sending message or email seems to be deaktivated...(?)

Thanks,
Phil.

Hello Phil,
Yes, there is something wrong with the PM messaging, I just tried to send you one, but it also gives me the error message.

Well, anyway:

to the Forums!

Here is the additional contact info (could be useful for the other fellow-members)

whom to contact: Artur +48 505 956 911 (GSM)

website with info: Retrofitting Nav Pro into E60 / E63

click to send mail: business e-mail address

CIC presentation

Let me know if you need any other info. I will gladly help.

I already sent e-mail to Artur to mention you, they have many clients, also from Germany so in case you decide to retrofit Nav Pro probably you will need to schedule it couple of weeks ahead, but it's well worth it!
Currently it costs about 3600PLN (about 800 EUR, including all parts, retrofitting and coding) + drive on your own to Wrocław (de: Breslau) + probably some overnight stay in the city, approx 20 - 50 EUR (worth to see, pretty old city)

Let me know if you need any advise about hotels, but you can also reserve directly for example by hotel.de

I hope, I helped?
Jarek

Many thanks for your quick response. Indeed you did help.
Well, actually i came here using google and searching about retrofits for E90 & perhaps E60.
I have to admit my car is an E90, so i'm looking forward these guys may handle that too,
or i have to swap cars with my Dad. *g* But i guess a mail will clear that.

Besides that your info reads very good, especially as it is all out of one hand.

But i have some additional questions. Hope you can help again.
In some other forums therer are rumors that there might be problems with
normal car software updates on cars which were retrofited. Quotes by persons
who have done a retrofi and used a BMW partner to reprogramm / recode the
cars software, CCC & CID and to have the "car odering"
(Fahrzeugauftrag) changed on the BMW central site.

Did they just reprogramm your car or did they made/send a change of the
"car ordering" (Fahrzeugauftrag) to BMW Central too?

How are your experience with services after retrofiting by your local
BMW partner?

Thanks again.
Phil.

edit:
Found their offer for E90 as well.

Hi again Phil,
No, mine was a simple coding Nav to the car (my E60 had only standard M-ASK radio before). But, in fact everything else works perfect as before.
They did not do the "Fahrzeugauftrag", and to tell you the truth, I don't think anyone except dealership can really do that.
They are extremely talented guys, they do some miracles but they're "only" an after-market workshop. The best one I came across so far though, and highly specialized in late BMWs, but that's it. On the other hand, if they manage to swap a standard CCC for the new CIC with HDD, unable TV-free by software modification, or retrofit HiFi Pro, then I would trust that they really know what they're doing

My car's case was fairly easy because (regretfully) I have almost nothing working on fibre-optic (MOST)
Back in 2006 at the order time I wanted a brand new car above all, so I skipped over some option must-haves, like the NAVI, keeping in mind that I might retrofit something eventually (with the cash flow...)

Coming back to your "Fahrzeugauftrag" question: I didn't do any updates in the dealership so far (I generally avoid fixing if something isn't wrong), but I believe that once everything is retrofitted and coded by these guys and it all works fine then the car should be OK.
But, if for any reason your dealer loads up the CIP update and something stops working then... I would assume dealer's responsibility to fix what was working before...

Generally if you give them 7 last digits of your VIN (by mail, or phone), they will be able to analyze on their own what you currently have and tell you what they can do.
Let me know if you need any more specific info from them (I can talk to them in Polish to get faster results).

Thanks for your offer Jarek.
I'll see what they can do. In summary the service they offer look very promising, actually
i'm trying to get an information of my bmw service partner related to service cases after
the EuroPlus garantie has finished and the car has been "modded". Well, having this
garantie to all motor and electronical parts in the car let me tend to wait a few month
bevor upgrading.

Greets
Phil.

This is very interesting indeed. Retrofitting CIC? I'd love to get that done, but not sure if any shop here in US, CA can do it.
Now, back to "Car Order" or "Vehicle Order" (commonly used in US) (Fahrzeugauftrag), I believe BenAnd and the gang was able to get around it, correct me if i'm wrong.
If BenAnd could shed us somelight, it'll be really appreciated.

Back to CIC retrofit for pre-LCI. What would happen if car was brought in for service in the future? software update, etc...

Aren't updates to CIC done via Satellite , or is that only for the maps?
