I am in the process of working on either a supercharger or twin turbo in the N62 engines. Fully installed approximately $10K. Just gauging some interests to see who would be interested. Should reach around 500 HP and 400-500 ft-lb torque. It's all up in the air right now. I may take a plunge into this.

True that! Man our cars would haul major ass with a supercharger or turbo kit. So you think around 500hp to the wheels? That is some scary power. I wonder how reliable these engines are boosted. If they're anywhere near as bulletproof as the 2JZ-GTE engine that would rock.

NOO!! 500 at the fly! Mebbe changing some injectors, fuel pumps, meth inject we can get 600 to 650. But I'd rather keep it driving as stock as possible. Like Alpina style. I emailed Alpina and of course I dont get a freakin response back.

I remembered there was a list of people interested in the VF Engineering supercharger.

Cool idea buy here my $.02 I remember seeing thread like this in the E39 section of Bimmerfest and it really doesn't make much sense considering how low the prices of M5s have come. Lets not forget the headache of having it installed, tuned, etc and afterall that, hoping the setup is reliable. Hell even if you have to spend $15k to upgrade to an M5 I think it would still be worth it more than a forced induction N62 considering the many extra features you get. I say keep your cash and put it towards something else.

You don't realize how many custom mods (some of which, I'm sure are either impossible or extremely hard to remove) John has on this 545. At current prices, he could probably buy an E39 M5 with the money that his mods are worth.

Besides, boosted V8 in Alpinas kicks M5's butts right and left - the torque in the boosted V8 is actually about 100 lb ft more than that of the V10 in the M5. HP is about 516 or smth. With this kind of figures, you're better off with the V8 - especially, with all those custom mods.

There could potentially be a small market for this. Take myslef for instance, recently purchased an 04 545i 6mt. I definately paid way less than 10g's for your standard used e60 m5 out there. For the 10g's I would still be saving a nice chunk over an M5 and would be faster than a stock M5, albeit not my much. First concern though is the clutch, does anyone make a performance clutch for the N62? Will an M5 clutch set up fit? Then you will always have to deal with the stigma "yea but its still not an M car". Just some thoughts....

See thats the thing, though. You spend like 10 grand on car mods over the course of a year or two and before you know it you're like "WTF, DID I JUST BASICALLY PAY FOR ANOTHER CAR?" LOL.
