My Winter Dilema

Here is the thing. I have OEM 166's for the Summer and Fall. However, the Winters in the Chicagoland areas suck. I am in the suburbs but it can still sometimes get bad. I just recently put on Michelin Pilot Sports A/S Plus tires on the front and rear. They are supposedly the best All-season tires around and I was debating just keeping the 166's on in the Winter.
The wheels below have Good year F1 All-Seasons on. My alternative is to install my 225/50/17" OEM 5 spokes.......which look god awful because it looks like someone kicked-in the tires to the fender and the 225's are SO skinny mini. The 166's are nice and flush to my car. WHAT TO DO ?! Either way I need to be very careful how I drive because I'm on H&R sports and when I go over large parking lot speed bumps I'm only...... 3" from scraping them with 1 person in the car.

I know how you feel. I have the same problem every winter staring at my tiny 124's/snows for 6 months waiting for spring to arrive and get them off my ride.
I would get snows for your 17's, A/S's just don't cut it in winter wonderlands like Chi and Mpls. Get some spacers for your 17's to push them out even with your fenders for a more agressive look. I went so far as to have my 124's powder coated so they weren't so plain.

Even though I love the M166s and its not really the question you asked (sorry!), I recommend you go for the type 128 19s. They are MUCH easier to clean!!

I love 128 style wheels, too. However, the prices are seriously jacked now and its just not worth it.

Why to change the rims and tires from all seasons to another all seasons?If you?re not going to put on spiked tires on those 17"s (like we have to do over here) then I would definitely keep those 166?s. Like you said, either way you need to be very carefull how you drive, then atleast roll with style...
