Well, my VMR v710's are due tomorrow and I'm soooo ready to have them installed. I've read a lot about most members just installing without doing any alignment. While playing Tiger Woods 10 on PS3, my friend tells me to get the wheels aligned when I get the tires installed. Else, I could have wear issues. Anyone know anything about this?

you dont need an alignment when getting new wheels as long as with the tires its with recommended specs. only if you were to change the suspension and height of the car, you will definitely need an alignment. other than that, if it is time for an alignment (recommended 1-2 times a year) it never hurts to get one.

Congrats on your purchase!! I put my wheels on and then I dropped it, I should get an alignment as well. I dont think you have to unless you lower your car. I could be wrong tho.

EDIT - Nerwyll beat me to it .. I guess I was right.

not necessarily, you won't be doing anything to the suspension so no need for an alignment. just make sure the wheels are properly mounted & balanced.

now if you lower it, then you'll def need it.

My car is already VERY low. A lot of my friends ask me if I had it lowered. I was close to getting the Breyton's but decided on the v710's cause they didn't need Spacers and they're lighter in weight.

That's not a big difference .. Like they ^^^ said, just as long as the tires are the same rolling diameter as the stocks ones then you DONT need an alignment.

if your '06 is lower than normal, then your suspension is starting to sag. thus, an alignment might be a good idea. better yet, maybe an upgrade to KW coilover suspension! let me know, i know someone that can hook you up!

Congrats!

I just got another set of wheels too so this is good info to know. I used to have the lifetime alignment from Firestone Service centers for my other car so I would get multiple alignments a year. It was a one time charge of $150 and valid for unlimited times as long as you own the car. Not sure if I would go that route for a bimmer though, but it definitely worthwhile if you have a competent service center.
