Today I installed my Velocity Booster. I must say it's simple to install and behaves as expected; however there is one caveat. Members with large hands can expect a difficult time maneuvering under the console. After pulling out some excess OEM cabling from under the carpet I still had difficulty due to the size of my hands. The connectors on the VB are an exact fit to OEM connectors, and for further ease of install pin numbers on the VB match to pin numbers on the OEM connectors. No error messages upon initial start-up or while test driving.

There is a noticeable difference when using the VB. When out driving on the freeway leave the VB off and drive maintaining a certain speed. Flip the VB on and notice that you will start to speed up. The VB works as advertised as it amplifies the signal of the depressed pedal.

After seeing JHerms post I decided I would post pictures and a short write-up for interested members. Thanks goes out to Jherm for the idea of hiding the cabling behind the paneling. For those interested in hiding the wires I suggest a dedicated wire/paneling tool (a picture of the tool I used may be found below). I used velcro tabs to install the VB with the idea of a clean and easy uninstall for those times I take it in for service (which will occur shortly).

A few pictures (I apologize for the poor quality in advance - I had only my iPhone available to me) with explanations follow:

1. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0074.jpg

Pedal unmounted with VB installed.

2.My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0075.jpg

Pedal remounted and Velocity cables tucked behind paneling.

3. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0076.jpg

One side of the velcro fitted to the VB.

4. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0077.jpg

Opposite side of velcro fitted to VB. Note the glossiness on the velcro is the sticky side which will be mounted under the dash.

5. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0078.jpg

Velocity installed under dash. In order to hide the wire further I want to bring the wiring further up the panel. Does anyone have a under-dash disassembly guide. It appears that where all three under panels converge are connected together with tabs, and I'm not sure how to go about the disassembly. Any suggestions would be great.

6. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0079.jpg

Car started; VB in off position.

7. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0080.jpg

Car started; VB in 3rd position.

8. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0081.jpg

Close up of VB in 3rd position.

9. My Velocity Booster Install (w/ pics)-img_0082.jpg

Dedicated wire tool used to hide wires (left over from audio installs in previous vehicles).

If anyone has any suggestions for the panel disassemble please let me know. Thanks!

Nice write-up for the DIY.

The wiring seems to be short. I'd prefer a more stealth look with all the wires hidden behind the panel.

The wiring's not short if you want to install under the dash like I did or Jherm. In another location then yes, you'll need to extend the wires. I tucked the excess under the panel. If I could figure out how to remove the other 2 panels (one plastic, the other carpeted) I would the bring the wire further up. Another project for another day.

Certainly will. I'm hoping SonicMS will take some before and after pics for me because I only have my iPhone camera at the moment (and we all know the quality of that). I still have stock wheels on the car *sigh*. Hoping to have new wheels soon, though I may have to bump the Valentine1 up after this install.

2007 530i. Not suggesting it's a speed demon now (never was compared to some other BMWs, *ahem* M5), but it makes a difference when you don't have to make a conscious effort, i.e. press the accelerator to the floor, when passing on the freeway. Granted, I just came over from an SUV, so my opinion is skewed towards the slow side of life.
