+2 Once in a while I'll get a laser warning and there's always either an Infinity or Nissan behind me. Something in those cars are setting off the laser detector. Maybe those cars have the laser guided active cruise control??
Nah, they just came from the Dr Evil design studio so they have "friggin laser beams on their heads"

unfortunately it is the sat radio antenna leak. this is a known issue with some bmw's and have been discussed on the m5 board. tinting the car with llumar tint helps reduce the constant rear ka false.

this is one thread... i posted under unknownx

It needs to go back to V1 for a firmware flash - trust me, even if they say it's current, it needs to be wiped and re-flashed.

I have a new v1 with sat and every other option possible. I have an ATT phone and everything else you could possibly think of that would disrupt the signal, but I love my v1 and have had zero problems with it. I think you should ask for a replacement model (one of the "new" refurbished ones, since your problem isn't going away)

GL and don't ever switch teams.

To see if it is your particular V1 or your car, I would borrow Dranged's V1 and put it in your car. If his keeps going off then the problem is your car. But if his does not go off then you know that it is your V1.

Good luck. I hope it's your V1 and not your car that is causing the problem.

Well, a little update to the problem. I stopped over at chowbox's house and we swapped V1's.

Bad news...My V1 pics up the same signal when mounted in Sean's car. We figured it was his car since both radar detectors pick up the same signal in his car. I was backing out of his driveway to leave when I noticed there was signal on the V1 in my RR. When chowbox's car wakes up, car not even running, it emits a weak Ka signal. When the car goes back to sleep, signal is gone. Crazy...I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes.

Here's a pic of the Ka signal coming from his 07 550. Check the arrow pointing to his E60.

Damn, I was afraid that that might be the case. Well it looks like Sean will need to do the mod to cover the bottom of the shark fin antennae in foil. That bites.

Agreed. Looks as though the headliner is coming down soon enough.
