When I had my new tires put on, I had asked the installer to switch my TPMS from the stock wheels to the new ones.

Later, when i went to pick up the car, he had told me they could not find any TPMS anywhere and he even took the tire off the wheel of the stocks to see if they were inside. Well to my surprise, I have had no issues (UNTIL NOW!).

My flat tire monitor is on right now but I seem to have no issues at all.

I still need to check pressure in all 4 and my spare (my guage is broken and can't get one until after work).

My main question is why would there be no monitors at all?!?!?!?!

BTW: I have a 2004 5.30i.

Its not actually missing, there just isnt a unit. This is because it look at the RPM of the tyre rather than the pressure itself (mines an 06 plate).

Correct -- there is no sensor on your 2004 model year car.

Once you set all the pressures to your liking on the new tires, you need to reset the system in the settings menu of iDrive. You need to begin the reset while stationary and then drive around for a few miles until the system status changes to active...

Yep, same thing happened to me when I changed out my stock wheels.

exactly what the boss said. once the system's active, it will sense the rolling resistance per wheel. a flatter tire increases rolling resistance thus activating a flat tire indicator.

Has anyone used an aftermarket TPMS like this one from Orange Electronic? http://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=55
